Last night, my teacher sliced open the head of my latest sculpture. Shocker. This way, we can remove all of the newspaper stuffings that made the initial shape of the body. Also, I had to scrape out the insides to get the clay to a thickness of about .5 inch to remove any air pockets and lighten the piece. This ensures it doesn't explode while in the kiln, eek!
His head is all sealed up now, as if it never happened.
